Védrines Castle

Védrines Castle, locally known as Château de Védrines, lies northwest of the village of Angelane, in the Haute-Loire department in France.

Védrines Castle was built at the end of the 15th or beginning of the 16th century. It was built either by the Belvezer de Jonchères or Pons de la Grange family, more as a fortified manor than a real castle.

François de Pons sold the castle to Pierre de Beauverger-Montgon in the 17th century. In 1763 it went to Joseph de Retz through his marriage with Françoise de Montgon. Their daughter married the Count of Pradt in 1784. Their descendants; the Roquefeuil family, still inhabit the castle to this day.

At present Védrines Castle is a private residence and thus can not be visited. A very nice castle, it must be great to live there.
