Rawia Fort

Rawia Fort lies in the city of Muscat in the Muscat Governorate in Oman.

I know absolutely nothing about the history of Rawia Fort. If you know anything, please mail me.

The fort is situated in the old inner city center of Muscat. It is a square structure with a well next to it. It looks like the first floor level is filled in, so entrance was through a door, defended by a murder hole, in the east wall on the upper floor level. Above that seems to be another floor, covering only a part of the building, which gave access to the gun slits. All-in-all, it looks more like a defendable residence than a true fortification.

Rawia Fort's exterior can freely be visited. It can not be entered. A curious building in a quiet neighborhood.
