Al Jeer Fort

Al Jeer Fort stands in the town of the same name (sometimes also spelled as Al Qir), in the emirate of Ras Al Khaimah in the United Arab Emirates.

The small town of Al Jeer is situated only a couple of kilometers from the Dara border post with Musandam, Oman. The 2 towers of Al Jeer Fort are also turned to that border. And as that border was only created in the 20th century, I think the fort dates back to the mid-20th century. Also the appearance of the fort looks much more modern than other ones I visited in the UAE. Other than that the fort has been used as a police post and a small prison, I have no other historical information about it. If you know more; please mail me.

Al Jeer Fort can freely be visited. Even though its appearance is more modern and it is a bit derelict, I liked it, its location on the edge of the beach did help with that, to be honest.
