Daghmar Castle

Daghmar Castle

Daghmar Castle, sometimes also called Dagh Fort, lies in the village of the same name, in the Muscat Governorate in Oman.

A couple of sources stated that Daghmar Castle was built by the Portuguese, so sometime between 1507 and the 1640s. One source claimed it would even date back to pre-Islamic times, which in Oman is before the 630s, but I find that highly unlikely.

I could not find any other historical information about the castle. If you know more, please mail me.

The castle consists of a strong round tower with a rectangular ward at its north side. It situated on a hill, overlooking the coastal plain around it.

Daghmar Castle is freely accessible. A very nice little castle.
