Tharmad Castle

Tharmad Castle lies in the town of the same name, in the Al Batinah South Governorate in Oman.

Tharmad Castle has a square ground plan with round towers at 3 of its corners. A bit off-set from the 4th corner is a rectangular tower. There is a recessed square gate tower with a bent entrance. There are no structures inside the castle, besides the mentioned towers. The rectangular tower holds an Arabic date press. All-in-all, the inside of the castle reminds me of a caravanserai.

At present Tharmad Castle can be visited for free during opening hours. What these hours are, I don't know. I was told that a lot of castles in Oman, if they are open for visits, open at 9 AM and close at 2.30 or 4 PM. A very nice castle.
