Omal Tower

The Omal Tower, locally known as Le Refuge, stands in the village with the same name, in the province of Liège in the Wallonia region in Belgium.

This building may not be a 'real' castle, but it's a nice, little-known ruin.

It is more of a fortified tower house, built in 1625 by the Mollin-Menjoye family. It was meant as a refuge for the local village population during times when foreign troops passed through. During peacetime, it was used as a dovecote.

I don't know if it was ever attacked, because I couldn't find any more info. If you have some, please mail them to me.

The Omal Tower is inaccessible.
