Mora Tower

Mora Tower, locally known as Torre Mora, lies east of the town of Granja de Rocamora in the province of Alicante in Spain.

Mora Tower is in origin a Muslim watchtower, probably built somewhere in the 13th or 14th century. After the reconquest of the area was virtually depopulated. In 1462 it was acquired by the Rocamora family, Lords of Benferri. Originally the tower had another floor but this was destroyed during an earthquake in 1829. Of the present structure the upper half is much more recent than the lower half.

At present Mora Tower is a private residence and can not be visited. Not very interesting. Ayala Castle is nearby.
