Mirasole Tower

Mirasole Tower

Mirasole Tower, locally known as Torre del Mirasole, stands on a wooded hillside west of the village of Fontaneto d'Agogna, in the Novara province in the Piedmont region in Italy.

Mirasole Tower was at first believed to date back to medieval times. Research done in the 1990s however showed it to have been built during the 19th century.

This is all the information I was able to find about this tower. If you know more, please mail me.

To me, it seems like the tower was built as a folly. Follies were popular with the aristocracy of the 19th century to embellish their estates. Maybe it was built by a local noble?

Mirasole Tower can freely be visited. Be careful however because there is a big risk of falling masonry. Part of the tower already seems to have collapsed in recent years. To reach it, you will have to follow an unmarked forest trail for about 15 minutes.
