Al Khan Tower

Al Khan Tower stands near the beach in the Al Khan area of the city of Sharjah, in the emirate of Sharjah in the United Arab Emirates.

The tower was probably built somewhere in the late 19th/early 20th century as a watchtower. It guarded the fishing village of Al Khan; overseeing the boats of the pearl divers and watching out for pirates.

Al Khan Tower is a round tower, built out of mud bricks and cob. It has been completely restored somewhere in recent years.

At present Al Khan Tower is standing in a fenced off area. But the fences are down in some parts and thus it is freely accessible. It is not signposted, there is no information at the tower and its interior is bare. A nice simple watch tower.
