Büyükkale Castle

Büyükkale Castle, locally known as Büyükkale Kalesi, lies on a hill, above the village of the same name, in the province of Izmir in Turkey.

I was not able to find any historical information about this castle. If you know something, please mail me.

Due to the types of masonry I suspect the castle was built before Byzantine rule, but kept being used and rebuilt by the Byzantines.

Not a very interesting site. The castle remains are just a few overgrown low walls. The site is freely accessible.
