Wallingstown Castle

Wallingstown Castle lies in a field in the Wallingstown Industrial Estate, west of the city of Cork in County Cork in Ireland.

It is not known when and by whom Wallingstown Castle was built. And despite its name there does not seem to be a connection to the Wallyns family.

It already existed during the 16th century when it was owned by the Fitzgeralds. In 1678 it was mentioned as property of the Pigot family, after which it passed to Lord Lisle and later to the Bury family. I could not find any other historical information. If you know more, please mail me.

The ruin of Wallingstown Castle consists of a rectangular tower house of 3 stories high. It is a nice tower, although suffering from vandalism. There is also a nice ruin of a medieval church on the other side of the road.
