Tirdznisi Tower

Tirdznisi Tower stands in the village of the same name, in the Gori municipality in the Shida Kartli region in Georgia.

Tirdznisi Tower is actually the remnant of a small peasant castle, called a 'galavani' by the Georgians. That castle had a square ground plan of about 30 by 30 meters and had several cylindrical towers. This ruined corner tower is all that remains now. The church is contemporary. I guess the tower dates back to the 17th/18th century.

At present Tirdznisi Tower can freely be visited. A simple tower ruin, slowly crumbling away due to the rampant vegetation. Tkviavi Castle and Marana Tower are close by.
