Suhaylah Castle

Suhaylah Castle lies above the quiet mountain hamlet of the same name, in the Al Batinah North Governorate in Oman.

I don't know anything about this castle. If you know anything, please mail me.

Suhaylah Castle has a rectangular ground plan with 2 round corner towers on opposite corners and a round bastion on a third corner. It seems to have been restored recently. The castle is situated on a ridge next to a wadi. It used to protect a village, together with 2 watchtowers. That old village beneath its walls is now abandoned and ruined.

When I visited the castle, it was closed. I don't know if it is ever opened for visits. A very nice castle. Together with its accompanying watch towers and the ruined village well worth your visit. There is no distinguishable path or road leading to it. I scrambled up the ridge from the side of the wadi, crossing the old village graveyard. Al Jal Tower is nearby.
