Ressemblanc Tower

Ressemblanc Tower, locally known as Torre de Ressemblanc, lies on the south side of the city of Elche in the province of Alicante in Spain.

Ressemblanc Tower was built during the 15th century. This defensive tower was one of a series of buildings around Elche intended as a place of refuge for locals and a lookout post for possible attacks by Barbary pirates. A building attached to the tower provided both housing and agricultural premises.

At present Ressemblanc Tower is used by an institute and can not be visited. The city of Elche also houses Altamira Castle, the Calahorra Tower and the Vaillo watchtower. So together with the Palmeral; a large historical palm grove in the center of the city, this is a real nice place to visit.
