Rametz Castle

Rametz Castle, locally known as Château de Rametz, lies west of the town of Bavay, in the Nord department in France.

Rametz Castle originally dates back to the 14th century when it probably was built by the Proisy family. They owned it until the mid-16th century. The present castle was built upon its medieval predecessor in the 16th century. It was extensively rebuilt during the 19th century into its present appearance.

The moated castle is privately owned by the Count of Pas, whose family are owners of the castle since several generations.

At present Rametz Castle is a private residence but it can be visited during special days like National Heritage Days. The west tower of the main building can actually be rented through Airbnb. A very nice castle.
