Kvareli Castle

Kvareli Castle lies in the center of the town with the same name, in the Kvareli municipality in the Kakheti region in Georgia.

Kvareli Castle dates back to the 16th century. It is what the Georgians call a "galavani", meaning a peasant fortress. The castle has a large square ground plan with round towers at its 4 corners and in the midst of its sides. It was in use until the 18th century. I don't have any historical information about it. If you know more; please mail me.

At present the interior of Kvareli Castle can not be visited, but its interior seems to be completely empty. A nice castle. Chavchavadze Tower is nearby.
