Kaledibi Castle

Kaledibi Castle, locally known as Kaledibi Kalesi, lies on a rocky outcrop above the village with the same name, in the province of Erzurum in Turkey.

I was not able to find any historical information about Kaledibi Castle, other than that it was an active fortress during the Middle Ages. So, if you know more, please mail me.

Getting to the entrance of the castle is quite a hazardous climb over a very steep slope consisting of loose gravel, but I was assisted by 2 young boys and their puppy dog, who were very eager to show their skills… The entrance to the castle has collapsed, so sadly you cannot enter the castle.

At present Kaledibi Castle is inaccessible, too bad, I would have liked to see what remains on the castle rock.
