Falaën Castle

Falaën Castle, locally known as Château-ferme de Falaën, lies in the village of Falaën, in the province of Namur in the Wallonia region in Belgium.

Falaën Castle is not a real castle but a fortified farm; a castle farm or 'château-ferme' as it is called in French. It was built between 1670 and 1673 by the Polchet family. Originally it would have had a square ground plan with 4 square corner towers and a gate building with a drawbridge so the family could protect themselves against travelling gangs of brigands.

In the 18th century the castle farm passed to the Coppin family, who kept it for the next 2 centuries. Because of their local popularity the castle escaped from the French Revolution without any damage. In the 20th century it was sold to the Delhaye family.

In 2018 Falaën Castle was put up for sale. For just €820,000. Apparently it was sold to a Dutchman.

Falaën is a private residence and therefore not accessible. A very nice castle farm.
