Eulenburg Castle

Eulenburg Castle, locally known as Kasteel Eulenburg or David, lies south of the village of Moresnet, in the Liège province in the Wallonia region in Belgium.

Eulenburg Castle may look medieval but it is not. It was built between 1878 and 1901 by Victor David whose father was a wealthy landowner in this area. He had it built as an L-shaped complex in eclectic style dominated by neo-Gothical elements and used it as a residence for his family.

Shortly after the 'castle' was finished Victor visited the German city of Aachen. There he bought the 18th century wood paneling that had been taken out of the Aachen city hall during a restoration to be burnt. He then had the paneling installed in Eulenburg Castle.

Eulenburg Castle is a private residence and therefore not accessible. A curious 'castle'.
