Dubai Towers

The Dubai Towers stand in the center of the city of Dubai, in the emirate of Dubai in the United Arab Emirates.

In the early 20th century when Dubai was still a small fishing town it was not only guarded by Al Fahidi Fort but also by a town wall and several watchtowers; who were overseeing the boats of the pearl divers and watching out for pirates.

I managed to find 2 of these watchtowers that were still standing. The first one was the square Al Shandagah Tower. It was built in 1939 and restored in 1994. The second one was a round tower of which I do not know the name. I guess it was built around the same time as the other one. I could not find any historical information about these towers. If you know more, or know the name of the round one; please mail me.

Both towers can freely be visited, although not their interior. A couple of nice towers.
