Chavchavadze Tower

Chavchavadze Tower stands in the town of Kvareli, in the Kvareli municipality in the Kakheti region in Georgia.

Chavchavadze Tower was probably built in the 17th/18th century by the noble Chavchavadze family. It is a square defensive tower, used as a refuge during times of trouble. The famous Georgian writer, intellectual and political figure Ilia Chavchavadze was born on the 2nd floor of the tower.

At present Chavchavadze Tower is situated on the grounds of the Ilia Chavchavadze Kvareli State Museum. It can be visited as a visitor of the museum. Entry to the museum cost a small fee. A nice tower. Kvareli Castle is nearby.
